Our approach
We provide an integrated approach to the treatment of female cancers with a multi-disciplinary team made up of highly experienced specialists:
-
We will give you a clear diagnosis of your condition and discuss with you therapeutic options.
- We will treat your condition using laparoscopic techniques whenever appropriate in order to achieve the best results for you whilst minimizing the length of time you need to stay in hospital, reduce any post-operative discomfort, scarring and post-operative recovery time.
- We have the appropriate skill within our multi-disciplinary team to deal with the most delicate or challenging surgery, even when this requires the skills of one or more of our gynaecological surgeons, urological or colorectal surgeons. We also have a Consultant Anaesthetist as part of our team who has a dedicated interest and expertise in Pain Management, and a fully trained Psycho-sexual Counsellor for dealing with relationship problems that may have developed related to your condition.
- All of our cases are discussed at the Multi-Disciplinary Team meeting held on a weekly basis as required by the Greater Midlands Cancer Network in order to ensure that the most appropriate and optimum treatment plan is used for each individual case.
- If additional treatment such as radiotherapy or chemotherapy is required, we will arrange this in one of our hospitals to suit you. This will be managed by one of four clinical or medical oncology consultants with whom we work closely, whilst you still stay under the care of our Consultant Gynaecologists.
